Halloween · Alcohol-free

Purple Potion Punch recipe.

Purple grape juice does the coloring here. Apple juice makes the grape flavor less heavy, and lemon-lime soda supplies both citrus and fizz. It is a useful contrast to a green Halloween punch when you want two visibly different alcohol-free bowls.

Purple Potion Punch, served in a glass

For one party batch

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Purple grape juice
  • 4 cups Apple juice
  • 4 cups Lemon-lime soda

Optional: Orange slices.

Makes 12 cups before ice and garnish. Serve ice in the glasses to avoid diluting the bowl.

Check ingredient labels for dietary needs.

Mix it well

How to make it

  1. Mix the grape and apple

Stir chilled purple grape juice and apple juice together in a clear pitcher. Check the color against a white cup: the shade depends on the grape juice you buy.

  2. Prepare the orange garnish

Wash an orange, cut it into thin rounds and remove visible seeds. Cut large rounds in half so they fit comfortably in serving cups.

  3. Pour and serve

Add the cold lemon-lime soda immediately before guests arrive. Fold it into the juice with a gentle stir, add the orange slices and ladle into cups over ice.

Serving notes

Choose purple grape juice rather than white grape juice to get the potion color without dye. A dark juice can stain tablecloths, so place the bowl on a washable tray.

Make ahead

Refrigerate the grape and apple mixture in a covered container. Store the sliced orange separately and keep the soda unopened until the bowl is ready to serve.
