New Year's Eve · Alcohol-free

Midnight Grape Sparkler recipe.

Sparkling apple cider gives this midnight drink its celebratory bubbles without wine. White grape juice rounds out the apple, while lime seltzer brings a dry citrus edge. Keep both sparkling ingredients cold and sealed until the toast.

Midnight Grape Sparkler, served in a glass

For one party batch

Ingredients

  • 4.8 cups White grape juice
  • 4.8 cups Sparkling apple cider
  • 2.4 cups Lime seltzer

Optional: Lime twists.

Makes 12 cups before ice and garnish. Serve ice in the glasses to avoid diluting the bowl.

Check ingredient labels for dietary needs.

Mix it well

How to make it

  1. Chill the toast

Chill the white grape juice, nonalcoholic sparkling apple cider and lime seltzer. Set out a pitcher large enough to pour without splashing.

  2. Prepare lime twists

Wash a lime and cut narrow strips of peel, avoiding as much white pith as possible. Twist a strip over each glass for aroma, then drop it in.

  3. Assemble close to midnight

Pour white grape juice into the pitcher first. Add sparkling apple cider and lime seltzer slowly, give one gentle stir and divide among glasses immediately.

Serving notes

Check that the sparkling apple cider is labeled nonalcoholic. Lime seltzer adds aroma rather than the acidity of fresh lime juice, so those two ingredients are not interchangeable by volume.

Make ahead

Prepare the lime peel and chill the unopened bottles. Mix in small pitchers as guests need a refill rather than leaving the entire sparkling batch out all evening.
