Christmas · With alcohol

Sparkling Champagne Punch recipe.

Brut sparkling wine is the center of this Christmas punch, with cranberry for color and orange liqueur for citrus aroma. Champagne, dry cava or brut prosecco can fill the wine role, though each changes the flavor. The sparkling water lightens the pour without adding sweetness.

  • 4.5 cups Brut sparkling wine
  • 3 cups Cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1.5 cups Orange liqueur
  • 3 cups Sparkling water

Optional: Cranberries and a orange twist.

Mix it well

How to make it

  1. Prepare the cranberry base

Combine cranberry juice cocktail and measured orange liqueur in a chilled pitcher or bowl. Stir before opening the sparkling wine.

  2. Open and pour gently

Open the cold brut sparkling wine according to the bottle directions. Pour it slowly down the side of the bowl, then add chilled sparkling water and give one gentle stir.

  3. Finish each glass

Add washed cranberries to the bowl if desired. Twist a strip of washed orange peel over each glass, add the peel and pour the punch without vigorous stirring.

Serving notes

Choose brut rather than a sweet sparkling wine. The displayed strength assumes 12% wine and 30% orange liqueur; check both labels if you need a closer estimate.

Make ahead

Chill all bottles and mix only the cranberry and liqueur ahead. Add both sparkling ingredients in small batches so the last glasses are not poured from a flat bowl.
